What's the point? Day 19
It's been a funny old day.
It started off fine.
Eyes closed, still half asleep, I said, "You can really feel the difference in temperature." "When the heating comes on, you mean?" Walkabout mumbled.
"Don't be an idiot. That's the point." He says.
And we laughed.
It's good to laugh before you've opened your eyes to the morning light.
We start the day off now at 7am with a twenty minute meditation sitting in our separate armchairs facing my eclectic shrine.
My mind was wandering all over the place. I looked straight ahead at the statue of Buddha.
"Sit on my crown and guide my thoughts." I asked.
He did for a bit.
But then he must have wandered off because so did my thoughts.
Then Walkabout makes coffee while I 'manifest' in my notebook.
"Spun Into Gold is comfort for mothers and fathers," I write. "Comfort and inspiration for young men and women." My usual wishes.
My window sill and view reminds me of time and beauty, boundaries and freedom.
After coffee, I start working through the next three chapters of Chillpreneur by Denise Duffield Thomas. I've buddied up with a friend from America to keep us both on track. This week's work is digital decluttering and setting up systems to post content on social media so it doesn't take up ALL my time. It's deeply boring, which is why I haven't done it yet. Deeply DEEPLY BORING! I really REALLY don't want to do it.
However, the way to manifesting a million readers is via an efficient system and social media so it has to be done.
Then I noticed a Facebook post. I recognised the photo of a friend of mine, a charismatic French magician I met when I performed for Prince Charles. We went out to dinner that evening with another two handsome French men. It was the perfect end to an extraordinary day.
A wonderful moment with Pierre Manu, Etienne Pradier and HRH Prince Charles.
But Pierre has just had a fatal heart attack age 55. Three years older than me.
News like that stops you in your tracks.
I believe we carry on in some form but that doesn't diminish the abrupt ending of his particular life. He was a lovely man, generous and funny and talented.
News like that makes me question the point of everything.
The point of Manifesting a Million readers? The point of creating an inspiring speech? The point of tidying my magic room?
This evening, I don't see the point.
Tomorrow I will start work again. Tomorrow I will get excited about creating new stuff, new talks, finding new readers, collaborating with new people.
This evening, I will remember Pierre's kindness and joie de vivre and take stock of the great treasure of being alive. I will try to let go some of my preoccupations with money and projects and small annoyances. I'm going to appreciate each and every blessing. Now now now.
One blessing is YOU. Thank you for being here, thank you for following my adventures.
