Is time going faster? Day 4
Time 'post-covid' is going faster, I'm sure of it.
I used to get stuff done. After all, I had a proper job. (Yes, being a magician is a proper job!)
I rehearsed, made props, went to bootcamp and hung out for coffee after to discuss marketing strategies with my manager. I had meetings, I went shopping. I know going to the shops is not technically work, I'm just demonstrating how much I used to fit in a day.
Today all I did was to cycle to pick blackberries, I had lunch at Manjusrhri, discussed a bit of Dharma with a monk, then I watched that tutorial on improving a website as I promised.
And now the day is nearly over.
Crazy.
That tutorial. Six short videos It started off in simple terms. 'I can do this', I thought.
Video one, video two.
By video three, I had developed a crush on the very friendly and helpful young male presenter. I started fantasising about inviting him over for coffee and cake, hoping that he might give me some personal help with my SEO while he was here.
That means 'Search Engine Optimisation' if you don't mind.
By video four, I had gone glassy-eyed and by six, my brain was fried.
The young man said, "It's all very simple. You just.... "
Well, young man, it might be simple for you but I did exactly what you said and it didn't.
I tried a few more times and then thought 'Enough!'
I shall have another go on Monday or maybe some angel might manifest and help this technical numpty to see the light.
Instead, I spent another hour on social media promotion and now I've definitely had enough of this marketing malarkey!
You know though, my trip this morning to pick blackberries while thinking about this challenge taught me a few pertinent things.
The best pickings might not be where you expected.
You might have to push past stinging nettles in pursuit of your goal.
You may end up on your bum, sat in a bunch of thorny brambles.
Where you are right now is where you might want to be even after you've realised your dream.
And that, my friends, is the wisdom of Day Four.
Back to the task on Monday. This weekend I'm going to climb another mountain or two.
