FCKER!!! Day 18
If you were getting a little tired of my optimist and positive posts, let me answer your request for a grumpy one instead.
Rishi Sunak - Chancellor Unextra-ordinaire Grrrrr.
Yesterday, Rishi Sunak the Chancellor again ignored the three million people for the next round of financial support. These three million are professionals and tax payers who through no fault of their own have not been able to work or claim any support since March.
I'm lucky to have more than enough for my needs in my little cottage (no extravagant costumes required at present!) but my heart goes out to all those hard working people who are looking at wrapping up their businesses and losing their homes. I'm in a Facebook group of 45,000 people called @ExcludedUK who are campaigning for fair and equal treatment. Their stories are heartbreaking.
The only way I can keep my cool right now is by ignoring the main stream news. Otherwise I find my Tourrettes comes back with a vengeance.
It only started recently but if I hear the name of Boris Johnson ... FCKER! or Rishi Sunak... FCKER!!! FCKER!!! I just can't help myself. I apologise to anyone with a real case of this difficult condition but I'm finding it's the only thing that makes me feel slightly calmer.
The good news is that I have a friend called Nicky Mitchell. I've mentioned her before, Nicky is a mega talented singer songwriter who stars in the Chapter 28 story of a Provincetown karaoke bombing incident. She's bloody great, we're family. At my dad's funeral when I asked the boring organist and vicar to get stuffed and conducted the service myself in ballgown and feathers, she did a star turn and sang Ella Fitzgerald classics accompanying herself on guitar.
Luckily she is also fab at web stuff and video editing and making a marketing plan to help me find a Million Readers plus of Spun Into Gold - The Secret Life of a Female Magician!
I could do a whole blog post on how amazing Nicky Mitchell is. But this isn't about her, it's about ME! And how lucky I am that Nicky has taken it upon herself to get me digitally / social media / website organised.
Mind you, she's tough. We had a two hour book marketing brainstorm session this morning.
"Do you mind if I comment on your blog?" She offers cautiously.
I nod. Which she can't see because she's in Bulgaria and I'm in the Lake District.
"It's the same every day. You're always going for a walk, thinking about something."
I suppose that's true. Thanks to Covid removing my reason for dressing up and travelling the globe, I spend a lot of time walking. And as I walk, I have a little think.
"You need to talk about something else. Tell us about the veggie smoothies you drink in the morning, tell us about the handyman phoning to say your roof has leaked and will cost another £2000 to repair. Tell us anything except another walk."
What would YOU like me to talk about?
I'm serious! What? You can answer in the comments below.
'Manifest a Million Readers' wise, Nicky is whipping me into shape with a list of things to do which will take most of next week including a whole new website re-think.
But now, it's officially the weekend and tomorrow, guess what?
I'm going for a very very VERY long 8 hours 19.5km / 12.5 miles up and down and around the Lake District on a WALK!
Love love love
