Last week were the
final heats of The Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year
competition and.... I WON!!!!
I'm still in shock!!!! I was standing in
the final line-up after they had announced second and third prize
and was looking along the line of contestants wondering which one of
my talented colleagues would win, when the President of the Circle
announced my name.

I decided last May to enter and to create some new magic for it,
then took the new routine to the famous Hollywood Magic Castle in
October. The Magic Castle is probably the only place you can play 22
shows in one week and where Johnny Depp comes and watches the show
with his kids!
At the end of that run, I doddled off 9 hours down
the highway to Las Vegas to show the DVD of the new work to my magic
teacher Jeff McBride

good coaching session and to spend just one precious day with
friends, no time to see any shows but I did make a pilgrimage to the
Liberace museum

Back home last week and majorly jet-lagged, I was gigging up and
down the country including performing at Tim Burton's Halloween
party this last Friday and then... hours of being really nervous
back-stage before the competition and then the relief and fun of
performing on stage.
The judges were celebrity stars of TV and
Variety, Melvyn Hayes from 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum', Jeremy Beadle
from TV and John Kaye Cooper the creative director of Talent TV and
organiser of many Royal Variety Shows and... ah, I'm just really
proud and excited! And thought I would let you all know! |

They filmed the show so I'll be getting a DVD made of it later this
month and will be able to give all you wonderful agents who keep me
in sequins a copy. I'm so grateful for all of you who have supported
me so much over the last 10 years of working on this magical career
of mine. I'm still only at the start!
Hoorah and Toodlepip for now, more adventures from Dubai and beyond
to come! And by the way I'm back home in Brighton from the 1st of
December and available for fantastic gigs, parties, festivals etc
etc!!! |
