May!!!! May is a busy time
for magic and increasingly more Burlesque gigs around
the UK although I'm still frivolising straight corporate
stuff & lots of weddings too.
I got back this morning
from an inspiring night in Birmingham @ the Candy Box

I so appreciate meeting people who have created a heart-dream
with passion and dedicated hard work. After seeing a burlesque
show in San Francisco, Al and Saffron created the Candy
Box Club which boasts a 500 strong enthusiastic audience
selling out far in advance and has 'em queueing round
the block to get the best seats.
On top of that, they decided
to provide the best possible conditions for everyone,
so all the performers were treated like royalty with afternoon
tea of homemade spicy chicken and cakes served between
sound checks. Backstage, 8 lassies squeezed into one room
is fun...I always think how all my gentlemen friends would
love to be a fly on the wall as the burlesque girls hang
about in corsets and usually less, helping each other
attach nipple tassles, getting oooh! ecstatic over a pair
of rhinestoned fishnets...

Magic seems to work well
with Burlesque, breaking up the schedule of band and strips
with me NOT taking anything off!!! well, maybe a glove...
It's a great treat working with a live band... worth the
drives through the night and hours in heels!

Last month I compered a
night for the London Burlesque Festival for a marathon
of 30 competing burlesque performers www.londonburlesquefest.com.
By the time I introduced the 28th lass about to remove
her undergarments, I was starting to lose the plot! You
can see the Burlesque Showcase featuring the winners of
the Festival show where I'll be doing my thing at Madame
JoJo's in the heart of Soho on Sunday 25th May, Doors

Ooooh!
AND...stop press... the Divamobile has arrived!!!! I've
been desiring my own on-the-road-boudoir for the last
10 years and am the very proud new owner of this VW Transporter
camper with all mod cons including...of course, internal
glitterballs and sparkly curtains.
We took our maiden voyage
to the Candy Box and it was fun although I did forget
plates and had a 2am 'it's all glamour on the road' fried
egg sandwich straight from the frying pan...
What else???
Ah yes, you can listen to a new radio documentary by CBC
the Canada Broadcasting Corp all about Women in Magic
featuring moi and another couple of famous female magicians

Thinking about that interview makes me laugh because i
didn't realise that it was radio and turned up to the
CBC studios in full slap, heels and diamonds at 10am...
doh!
Meanwhile
on the home front I've ditched boxing for the benefits
of YOGA... big time! i've been doing 90 mins of HOT sessions
daily for the last 2 months and ooooh, one is getting
to be flexibubble! The plan is to be a super bendy and
eccentric 80 yr old... watch this space...
