Adventures of Romany - March 2008

Dear Friends

Spring! 6 months since my last ‘Adventures’ and although it was freezing hail and strong winds recently, Spring must be here soon. The Sequin Starship (my now not so new home in Brighton) is firmly docked with it’s still in progress little theatre about to get some spotlights this week… Best of all, I have 3 lovely lads (Star Crew) living with me which makes the Starship a most entertaining place to be.

Jan Hunt with RomanyBetween corporate parties and the odd trade show in Spain (very odd, a party for Panasonic in an ancient monastery in Valencia!), I’ve been mainly performing in the UK, having a great time with the Old Time Music Hall shows produced the glamorous Jan Hunt who some will remember from the Crackerjack TV show. 70 years young, blond & vivacious, she zooms up and down the country in her black convertible sports car crammed with props, producing and performing in her own shows that I’ve had great fun being included in www.papermoontheatre.co.uk. Here she is (left), then the June Whitfield and Romanyfabulous June Whitfield and England’s captain Martin Johnson for rugby fans! I was even doing some magic for Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones at one party last month but it just wouldn’t have been cool to ask for a photo!

I seem to be drifting in the direction of Burlesque which is only a bad thing if one remembers that one can’t nosh as much chocolate cake as I would normally like since costumes have a habit of shrinking. To this end, I’m still following the www.britmilfit.com fitness and have become quite addicted to Romany and Martin Johnsonsessions of press-ups in a dark and rainy park in a rather fetching running bib being addressed as ‘get a move on number 8!’ I spend the rest of the time clutching my aching parts and falling into deep siestas but at least the corsets still fit.

On the Burlesque theme, I’ll be hosting the Newcomers Night of the London Burlesque Festival 4th April in Bush Hall, Shepherd’s Bush. If you want to see lots of barely clad ladies sashaying about, have a quick shifty at the website for an eyeful! www.londonburlesquefest.com

Lovely to keep in touch with you all and as ever, my sincere thanks for your support!

As always, I’m available to Toast Mistress weddings, corporate events and posh parties, whether with close up magic or stage cabaret so if you have any dates you need befeathered frivolising please contact the efficient and glamorous Angel on 07801 341066 or angel@romanymagic.com.

With Peace and Sequins
